Starting in the 7A category we have Tuscaloosa County High school playing at Vigor High-School in Mobile County. After a close 31-28 loss to the Central Falcons last week in what was voted the game of the week. Vigor High School recently hired their former head coach, John McKenzie, who led the Wolves to a 4a state championship in 2021. The Wolves moved up in classification last year; now a 5a school, the Wolves may have a dis-advantage in how many players they have as a 5a school compared to Tuscaloosa County as a 7A school but nonetheless it will be a great game to watch with Vigor having their coach back.

Hillcrest receiver, Jordan Chambers-Smith was named as one of the players of the game with 1 receiving touchdown and over 50+ yards. Hillcrest is looking like the favorite to win this match up for Friday night!

Moving to the 6A Classification we have the Brookwood Panthers on the road to Bibb County as they play the West Blocton Tigers. Both the Tigers and the Panthers enter week 2 with a loss under their belt, West Blocton losing to Northside, and Brookwood with an unfortunate 48-7 loss at home against Jasper; these teams are seeking to leave week 2 on a Positive note. Which one will take home the Win?

In 5a football we have the Northside Rams traveling to the Cordova Blue Devils. Northside came back last week from what was seeming to be a run away game at first with the West Blocton Tigers going up two scores before the half. Head Coach Robby Jones, who has spent the majority of his coaching Career with the Rams gets his team together at the half for an incredible come back win against the Tigers. Some Notable players from the game are Quarterback Parker Shirley, Running back Bennett Green, and receiver Evan Taylor who also plays defensive back for the Rams.

Sipsey Valley playing at home against the Jasper Vikings. Sipsey Valley took an incredible 56-32 win against Greene County while Jasper took down Brookwood in a blowout last week. This will be a game to watch as two 1-0 teams fight to keep their undefeated season alive early in the year.

Defending Home Turf

Other games to watch that are playing inside the county Friday are Central vs. Calera here at Central High School.
