The Arizona Cardinals have placed the transition tag on former Crimson Tide running back Kenyan Drake.

The transition tag effectively allows Drake to test the free-agent market as usual with the caveat being the Cardinals can match any offer from other teams. Drake should see a nice payday once his market is played out, whether it's by the Cardinals or another squad.

Drake was sent to Arizona from Miami in a midseason trade. Drake took advantage, starting in eight games for the Cardinals and racking up 643 yards and eight touchdowns.

Spotrac estimates Drake's market value could see him earn $5.5M/per year on his next deal. The transition tag allows the Cardinals to see if the NFL market agrees and tender the offer based on the results.
