Alabama freshman offensive lineman Michael Carroll continues to make headlines, earning his second Freshman All-American honor, this time from the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), as announced on Wednesday.

Carroll was one of only 31 freshmen nationwide recognized by the FWAA, including just eight from the SEC. Alabama wide receiver Ryan Williams, now a sophomore, earned Freshman All-American honors from the FWAA last season.

This marks Carroll’s second Freshman All-American honor, having previously been recognized by On3 alongside teammate Dijon Lee Jr. Carroll was also named to the All-SEC Freshman team in December.

Carroll, who was a five-star commit coming out of the 2024 class, played in 14 games and started six at left tackle, allowing only four sacks and one quarterback hit over 346 pass-blocking snaps, according to Pro Football Focus (PFF). His 71.4 pass-blocking grade from PFF ranks fifth nationally among freshman tackles.

Carroll recently withdrew from the transfer portal on January 7 and re-signed with the Tide for his sophomore season. After a strong freshman year, he is expected to play a key role on Alabama’s offensive line next season, especially following significant departures from the unit this offseason, which saw the loss of six of the Tide's top seven offensive linemen from last season with Carroll being the only returning offensive lineman with starting experience as Alabama is looking to build around Carroll on the offensive line.
