Shortly after Alabama took home the program’s 17th national championship, five of the Crimson Tide’s top junior players announced their intention to enter the NFL Draft.

On Friday’s edition of The Gary Harris Show, NFL.com draft analyst and host of Crimson Cover TV Chase Goodbread looked ahead at the futures of MInkah Fitzpatrick, Calvin Ridley, Ronnie Harrison, Bo Scarbrough and Da’Ron Payne in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Goodbread first analyzed Fitzpatrick’s status as one of the top picks in this year’s draft.

“I think he’s definitely got the potential to be a top 10 guy, maybe even a top five guy.” Goodbread said.

The NFL Draft analyst elaborated on what position you could see Fitzpatrick’s play in professional football.

“I think at the next level, safety and nickelback is more than likely his destination, but he could turn out to be a corner too depending on the club.” Goodbread said.

On the other side of the football, Goodbread thinks that Ridley has an opportunity to be one of the top receivers chosen in the draft.

“Got a chance to be one of the first two or three receivers taken for sure.” Goodbread said.

He explained what makes the star Crimson Tide receiver an attractive option to NFL scouts and general managers.

“The guy in terms of physical skills is everything the NFL is looking for in terms of speed, quickness, separation, his ability to separate from the defender at the top of the route with the way he cuts and he can cut on a dime and really not lose a step of speed doing it. He’s explosive and somebody that’s going to make a lot of noise in the NFL.” Goodbread mentioned.

Along the line of scrimmage, Goodbread described how the wins over Clemson and Georgia helped the NFL prospects of Da’Ron Payne.

“I think those games will definitely help him. He was widely regarded as one of the top defensive tackles in the country anyway coming into the CFP, but coming out of the CFP, definitely two positive tapes for him. Two tapes that are going to help him when scouts break him down.” Goodbread stated.

In addition to the early entrees and seniors eligible for the NFL Draft, Goodbread later broke down the benefits that Alabama will receive in having running back Damien Harris for his senior year.
