Coach Oats Says He Won’t Rest Herbert Jones
Alabama has been dealing with a handful of injuries this season, and now star Senior Herbert Jones playing status is in question. Jones has been banged up for quite some time now, and many have been asking the question if he should rest.
Coach Nate Oats joined Aaron Torres on his podcast, and was asked about the status of his star Senior Herbert Jones. Oats told Torres he has no plans on resting Jones until the Crimson Tide clinch the SEC.
The Crimson Tide have been injury plagued this season even before the season started. center Alex Tchikou suffered a season ending Achilles injury before the year started. Jan. 12th Alabama lost center Jordan Bruner to a knee injury and has been out a month. At South Carolina Juwan Gary injured his shoulder and will be out at least a few games.
To say all this, Coach Oats mentioned this to Torres to back up his reasoning on not resting Herbert Jones. Ultimately the Crimson Tide are trying to win their first SEC regular season title since 2002.
Jones paid off the coach's decision over the weekend against the Georgia Bulldogs, netting 21 points, five rebounds, four assists and three blocks as the Tide took another step closer to winning the SEC.
Oats knows Jones is a must for the Tide to keep winning with limited depth at the forward and center positions. Herbert Jones is also the same player who played most of the season last year with a wrist injury. The same injury to where at one point he was shooting free throws one handed against LSU.
The Senior has seen it all, and he has been battle tested enough to withstand these injuries to help give his team a chance to win.
