
Crimson Tide Loses by Double Digits at Home Against Ole Miss Tuesday Night
Alabama failed to get the victory Tuesday night at home against Ole Miss as the Rebels secured their first victory over an AP top 5 team on the road in school history with the final score being 74-64.

Ole Miss got on the board first in Tuesday night's matchup against the Tide, which they answered back with a free throw from Tide's freshman guard Labaron Philon and a three-pointer by Senior guard Mark Sears off of an Ole Miss turnover which put the Tide up 4-2 with 17:59 to go in the first half.
Both teams struggled to find the basket for nearly three minutes, which saw both teams go scoreless, finally the drought ended after a made layup by Rebels' Foward Malik Dia. Following Dia's basket Ole Miss forced a turnover from the tied which resulted in a three-pointer from Rebels' guard Jaylen Murray to put Ole Miss up 7-4 with 15:13 left in the first half.
The Crimson Tide answered back quickly with an 8-0 run which started with two corner threes from Crimson Tide guard Chris Youngblood, and a monster dunk from Tide Foward Grant Nelson which put Alabama up 14-10 with 12:14 left in the first half.
Nelson exited the game at 11:48 in the first half after landing on his elbow after a hard foul on Nelson's attempted layup. Alabama's forward Clifford Omoruyi subbed in to shoot Nelson's free throw attempts which Omoruyi went 1-2 from the free throw line to put the Tide up 15-10.
After a quick trip to the locker room, Nelson was back on the court with 6:49 left in the game where he stayed in for the rest of the half as the Crimson Tide and the Rebels went back and forth with the Tide holding a 4-point lead going into the second half after a made three-pointer by Alabama's Sophmore guard Aden Holloway with six seconds left in the first half which made the score 36-32 going into the last half of this matchup.

Ole Miss got on the board first in the second half from a tough layup from Rebels' guard Sean Pedulla after two minutes of both teams being scoreless this was followed by another basket by the Rebels causing the score to be tied a 36 with 17:51 left in the final half of regulation.
The Rebels gained the lead after a three-pointer by Rebels guard Jaylen Murray this put Ole Miss up 41-40 going into the media timeout with 15:39 left in the contest.
Ole Miss expanded their lead to four after a made free throw by Rebels' guard Matthew Murrell. Alabama has struggled to score here in the second half with the Tide having multiple scoring droughts. Ole Miss leads 46-42 going into the media timeout with 12:10 left in the second half.
Going into the media timeout with 9 minutes left in the contest the Rebels took their largest lead of the matchup with Ole Miss going up by 10 after a three-pointer from Rebels' guard Matthew Murrell to make the score 56-46.
Nate Oats and his Crimson Tide kept fighting with them Tide bringing the deficit within six with 7:54 left in the matchup after a big-time dunk by Alabama's forward Jarin Stevenson that almost made the roof come off of Coleman Coliseum with the Tide down 56-50 in the final stretch of the second half.
Alabama found themselves back down by 10 points after a strong finish by Rebels' big man Malik Dia which made the score 51-61 with 4:31 left in the ball game. Dia recorded his first-ever double-double of his collegiate career with the Rebels' big man scoring 23 points to go along with his 19 rebounds.
Alabama made a final push at a comeback with the Tide bringing the deficit down to six points after a tip-in layup by Chris Youngblood with 58 seconds left in the ball game, but despite the effort the Rebels stayed efficient at the free throw line with Ole Miss shooting 14-16 from the charity stripe with the Rebels last eight points coming from the stripe with the final score being 74-64.

Alabama will fall to 14-3 on the season and 3-1 in conference play after Tuesday night's loss to Ole Miss as the Rebels pick up their first win against a top-five team on the road in school history.
The Crimson Tide will travel to Lexington Kentucky to play the Eighth-ranked Kentucky Wildcats at Rupp Arena this upcoming Saturday, January 18th, 2025.
