CTSN Releases Statement Regarding Eli Gold

Wednesday afternoon, it was announced that CTSN had parted ways with long-time play-by-play announcer Eli Gold.

Since the announcement, Gold has done several interviews stating that he is "not retired.", including an interview with Ryan Fowler on Tide 100.9.

Early Thursday evening, CTSN released a statement regarding the mutual parting.

"We will always appreciate Eli and wish him nothing but the best in his next endeavors. We are incredibly excited about the future of CTSN and what Chris Stewart will bring to the broadcasts in his new role." CTSN wrote about the departure.

Chris Stewart took over Gold's role during the 2022 season while Gold was battling illness. Gold returned to the broadcast booth in 2023, only calling home games and the Iron Bowl. Stewart handled away games and post-season play.

Stewart will remain on the call for Alabama Men's Basketball.

 We thank Eli Gold for an incredible 35-year run with Alabama Athletics, and we wish him the best in his future endeavors.
