Coach DeBoer joins Hey Coach for brief bye-week visit
The bye week isn't just for players. It's for coaches, trainers, and the rest of the staff to catch their breath after going 100 miles a minute through the first three weeks of the season. Head coach Kalen DeBoer and his media availability are no exception.

Coach DeBoer joined the show for a little under ten minutes on Wednesday, and did it via phone, as is tradition during the bye. Show host Chris Stewart kept it light this week, with questions about Jam Miller, Ty Simpson, the only points Alabama has surrendered in the last two weeks, and a brief look ahead to next Saturday's rematch of last year's thriller in Bryant-Denny.
As far as Miller is concerned, DeBoer didn't provide anything definitive about the RB1's status for the Crimson Tide's next game. Instead, he spent his time on the subject of Miller raving about his ability as a "complete back," referencing his ability as a runner, pass catcher, and pass blocker. Alabama's run game has suffered without its workhorse, who we heard all good things about up until his injury during fall camp.
As for Ty Simpson, he kept the comments on his star quarterback brief this week, referencing his efficiency and ability to take care of the ball to start the season.
Stewart rounded out DeBoer's time on air discussing the Badgers' second-half kick return touchdown that silenced Bryant-Denny Stadium, for all of about three minutes that is. DeBoer said that kick return has remained Alabama's most "bullish" unit during his short tenure as the head coach here in Tuscaloosa, and said the score was a good "wake-up call" for the kickoff team. Expect a lot of touchbacks and short returns against UGA.
