Deontae Lawson: Never re-entered the Game After Suffering an Apparent Leg Injury
NORMAN, Okla.- In a challenging environment in Norman, the game presented many obstacles for Alabama, and ultimately played a crucial role in determining the outlook of their season.
Additionally, their most significant challenge began early with the loss of veteran linebacker Deontae Lawson, who went down after a non-contact slip just minutes into the second quarter. He was helped off the field and was not able to apply pressure after an apparent leg injury. Lawson was taken to the locker room, and it was reported before halftime that he would miss the remainder of the game.
"I don’t (unaware of the injury). It's going to be a lower extremity injury, and we'll continue to evaluate," said Kalen DeBoer during the postgame press conference regarding an update on Lawson.
Justin Jefferson took over for him and also had the responsibility of being the green dot. "Any time you lose one of your captains or top players, it's going to hurt you emotionally and affect your demeanor on the field," said DeBoer on the loss of Lawson for the remainder of the game.
As more updates are provided regarding the severity of Lawson's injury, stay tuned to Tide 100.9.
