Nick Saban defeated Mack Brown Texas team 37-21 in the Rose Bowl on January 7, 2010 to win his first national championship as Alabama head coach. 10 years and two months later, Brown got revenge on the recruiting trail. Brown, now the head coach at North Carolina, flipped a top Alabama football commitment and now Drake Maye is committed to the Tar Heels.

Maye, the younger brother of former Tar Heels basketball player Luke Maye, is a four-star quarterback in the 2021 recruiting class out of Myers Park High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is rated the third best recruit in the state of North Carolina, the sixth best pro-style quarterback and the 56th best player nationally by 247Sports.

Maye stands at 6 feet 5 inches and weighs 210 pounds, in two seasons of high school football Maye has passed for 6,700 yards and 85 touchdowns. He committed to Alabama in July of 2019 but decided to switch his commitment to the Tar Heels today.
