Drew Sanders signed his letter of intent to join the Alabama Crimson Tide today. December 18 is the first day high school seniors can officially sign with their new college programs. Sanders is a five star athlete out Ryan High School in Denton, Texas. He is ranked the 21st overall recruit in the country and the second overall recruit in the state of Texas according to 247sports.

Sanders played both sides of the ball in high school, spending time at quarterback, tight end, receiver and outside linebacker. Standing at 6’5 and 232 pounds he will likely end up playing either outside linebacker or tight end for the Crimson Tide. Sanders committed to Oklahoma in November of 2017 but flipped his commitment to Alabama in April of 2019.

As a senior at Ryan High School, Sanders caught 34 passes for 717 yards and 12 touchdowns. He rushed the ball for 326 yards and 10 touchdowns; he completed seven of eight passes for five touchdowns. Defensively, Sanders recorded 119 tackles, eight sacks and scored two defensive touchdowns on his three interceptions. Sanders won district MVP for his efforts and was chosen to play in the Under Armour All-America game.

Sanders was recruited to Alabama by defensive backs coach Karl Scott and defensive coordinator Pete Golding. He will play in the Under Armour All-American game on January 2, 2020 and then enroll at Alabama for the spring semester.
