Falcons Owner Wants to Keep Calvin Ridley amid Uncertainty
It was quite the turbulent season for Atlanta Falcons star wide receiver Calvin Ridley who only played in five games before deciding to step away from the game to focus on his mental health in October.
After Atlanta dealt Julio Jones to the Tennessee Titans last offseason, expectations were high for Ridley in his first season as the Falcons WR1. Though he was playing fairly well, clearly he was just not all in mentally and decided to do what was best for him.
In his five games this season, Ridley recorded 31 receptions for 281 yards and two touchdowns.
After all of this, rumors have been circulating for months that the Falcons will look to move on from Ridley as a fresh start could be the best thing for both sides.
Amid the rumors, with NFL insiders alike speculating who could be Ridley's next team, Falcons owner Arthur Blank said yesterday that if it were up to him, he wants to have Ridley stay in Atlanta.
Whether this ends up being the case remains to be seen, as there is certainly no shortage of teams that would love to have the services of Ridley and may be willing to fork up premium draft capital to land him.
Falcons fans who have watched Ridley since his days at Alabama would certainly love to see Ridley stay in Atlanta as well, but ultimately it will be up to Ridley whether or not he wants to request a trade from the Falcons.
