Five-star offensive lineman, Amarius Mims, changed his commitment date this week, opting to make his decision on August 15th rather than his original date, October 14th. With Alabama as a favorite to land the Georgia prospect, this could help move the Tide up in recruiting rankings.

As of now, 247Sports has Georgia as the favorite to land Mims, but in April Mims had Alabama as his number 1 school.  “I love Bama,” Mims said “They are amazing coaches and a great school and I love being there.”

Standing at 6-foot-7, 315 pounds, Mims has exceptional size for an offensive tackle and has proven to be quick on his feet after playing defensive end as well this past season.   Mims has been compared to Cam Robinson who was an excellent tackle for the Tide with similar size and skill set who was drafted in the second round in 2017.  Mims is the second ranked tackle and the sixth ranked overall player.

With Alabama already having one commitment from a five-star offensive lineman, JC Latham, landing Mims could mean a very strong offensive line for the Crimson Tide and yet another very strong recruiting class. Currently, Alabama is ranked 12th in the nation for the 2021 recruiting class, per 247Sports.  Landing another five-star could shoot Alabama into the top 10 of the rankings.
