Former Alabama Punter Signs with Los Angeles Chargers
Former Alabama punter J.K. Scott gets a new NFL opportunity as he was signed by the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday. Scott signs as a free agent after spending one game with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021.
The Chargers will be Scott's third NFL team after being drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the fifth round of the 2018 draft. The NFC North team kept Scott for three seasons before cutting him ahead of the 2021 campaign.
Scott was picked up by the Jaguars near the end of the 2021 season but was released as a free agent after. He will get a chance to restart and refresh his career punting in brand new SoFi Stadium.
The 6-foot-6 punter out of Colorado is the only Crimson Tide alum currently on the Chargers roster. His new deal with Los Angeles is reportedly for four-years worth $2.7 million.
He's launched 198 punts for an average of 44 yards per punt during his professional career.
The Chargers finished the 2021 season 9-8 just slightly out of the playoffs, perhaps Scotts' championship pedigree will help the Bolts get to the next level.
