After entering the transfer portal in late June, 3-star DB Brylan Lanier ('21) - a Tuscaloosa product from Paul W. Bryant High School - announced on Friday that he will choose a walk-on role at The University of Alabama.

The recent high school graduate committed to Georgia State in August of 2020 after receiving offers from Chattanooga, Jacksonville State, Southern Miss, Toledo, Tulane, UAB, and a few smaller institutions.

Lanier is a 6-foot-1, 170 lb., freshman, defensive back and is listed on recruiting sites as a cornerback.

Reportedly, the incoming freshman attended some summer workouts with the Panthers in Atlanta, however, he decided to enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal just three weeks after enrolling June 7.

Lanier is joining a fairly deep defensive backs roster at Alabama and, upon making the team, will be behind senior CB Josh Jobe, R-Jr. CB Jalyn Armour-Davis, freshman CB Kool-Aid McKinstry, and incoming JUCO transfer CB Khyree Jackson.

The transfer defensive back is the younger brother of former Alabama wide receiver Joshua Lanier, who also decided to walk on at UA after his time at the University of North Alabama. However, the duo won't get to play together as Joshua decided to use his last year of collegiate eligibility as a transfer to Jackson State, now under the direction of Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders.
