Former Shelton State Baseball Standout Joins UAB Head Coach Alex Mortenson’s Staff
On Wednesday, UAB announced that former Shelton State baseball standout Corbin Grantham will join the Blazers' football staff as a Quality Control Assistant Coach.

Grantham will be joining Alex Mortenson, who was named UAB’s head coach back in December following the firing of former head coach Trent Dilfer. He will also be joining a staff that includes his father, Todd Grantham, who serves as the Blazers' Defensive Coordinator and was on Oklahoma State's staff, alongside his son, where he served as the Cowboys' defensive coordinator in 2025.
UAB's newest coaching addition spent last season in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where he was a Defensive assistant for Oklahoma State.
Prior to Grantham’s time at Oklahoma State, the 24-year-old played College baseball with his most recent stop being at Radford in 2024-2025.
He carried a .993 fielding percentage through two seasons with the Highlanders, while he racked up 49 hits, 40 runs scored, and 26 stolen bases.
The Gainesville, Florida native spent two seasons in Tuscaloosa, where he played at Shelton State Community College from 2022-2023, posting a career .288 batting average with the Bucs and being part of the 2023 ACCC State Championship team.
UAB will kick off the 2026-2027 season opening against Illinois at Gies Memorial Stadium on September 5th, 2026. The Blazers will look to pick up their first winning season since 2022.
