Former Tide RB Joins CTSN

On Thursday, the Crimson Tide Network reported that former Alabama running back Damien Harris will join the CTSN team for the upcoming football season.

Harris played as a tailback for the Crimson Tide from 2015 to 2018. He contributed to two College Football Playoff National Championships, rushing for 3,000 yards in his career with 23 rushing touchdowns. He averaged 6.4 yards per carry, according to the UA Athletics website.

Harris, who was a 3rd round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, played 5 seasons in the NFL, spending 4 of those years with the New England Patriots, who drafted him. Harris played a brief stint with the Buffalo Bills last season, where he decided to retire from the NFL in March of 2024 at age 27. In his 5 years in the NFL, the former Tide running back rushed for 2,188 yards with 21 rushing touchdowns, while averaging 4.6 yards per carry. In 2021, Harris had the best year in his pro career, rushing for 929 yards and recording 15 rushing touchdowns in only 15 games according to Pro Football Reference.

The two-time CFP National Champion will return to his alma mater to join the CTSN radio crew alongside Chris Stewart and former Tide QB Tyler Watts. Stewart has also served as the play-by-play announcer for Crimson Tide Basketball for the past 11 seasons, as mentioned in Chris Stewart's biography on Tide1009.com. Watts played for Alabama from 1999 to 2002, during which he passed for over 3,500 yards in his career, as indicated in Tyler Watts' Sports Reference profile. Watts became the color analyst for CTSN in 2023, taking over from another former Alabama quarterback, John Parker Wilson.
