Four-Star 2024 Defensive End Visits Tuscaloosa
With his visit on Wednesday, Alabama football finds itself in the hunt for 6-foot-5 four-star 2024 defensive end KingJoseph Edwards out of Buford High School (GA). If he chooses the Tide, he'll be joining fellow alums safety Jake Pope and receiver Isaiah Bond – both from the 2022 recruiting class – as the third recruit out of Buford to pick Bama over UGA in a calendar year.
He shared his thoughts on the visit in a later social media response to an Alabama fan and seemed impressed with the experience.
"I met with coach Saban today for almost an hour. He’s very strategic, skilled…it was a pleasure! Thanks for your kind words…"
According to 247Sports, Edwards is the fourth-best player in the state of Georgia and the No. 12 ranked recruit in the country. Besides Alabama, he also holds offers from Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, Penn State, Texas, Texas A&M and USC among others.
247Sports.com tracks recruiting visits and says he's been in Athens, GA to see Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs on at least four occasions. The website's current "Crystal Ball" prediction reads 100% for Edwards committing to UGA, but the process is still early as Georgia and Alabama only have one commitment for 2024 between the two programs.
Edwards, according to his own social media, has at least two more visits planned currently, both before the end of the month. He'll visit with Texas on Saturday, April 9, before looking at LSU two weeks later on the 23rd.
Alabama has assigned safeties coach Charles Kelly to Edwards' recruitment, who was also credited in the recruitment process of Buford teammates Isaiah Bond and Jake Pope.
All three players from Buford received offers from Alabama and Georgia with Bond and Pope signing in December of 2021. Their signing day took place four days after Buford secured its third consecutive state title in high school football.
