Four-Star Quarterback Sets Official Visit to Alabama
Alabama is pushing for a pair of quarterbacks in the 2026 recruiting class, with quarterback Jett Thomalla taking an unofficial visit to Tuscaloosa last weekend amid a big recruiting weekend for the Tide.

Alabama will again have a quarterback on campus this weekend for the Tide's second official visit weekend of the "Summer Reign" era. Four-star quarterback Matt Ponataski has scheduled an official visit to Alabama, according to Brett Greenberg of 247 Sports.
Ponatoski will be on campus from June 6-8. He's a four-star quarterback from Archbishop Moeller High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, standing at 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds.
In 2024, he was named Ohio Mr. Football and the Gatorade Ohio Player of the Year. He led his school to a 14-2 record and appeared in the Ohio Division 1 Football Championship. He passed for 3,456 yards and 57 touchdowns, with just three interceptions on the season.
Ponataski also plays baseball for Archbishop and has communicated with Rob Vaughn and the Crimson Tide's baseball staff. He's ranked as the No. 16 high school baseball player in the 2026 recruiting class, and he is the No. 1 player in baseball from Ohio. He's an infielder and right-handed pitcher with a peak of 97 MPH. As a junior, he hit .429 and had 29 RBI.
This weekend's official visit will be his first to Tuscaloosa, and he only has one other official visit scheduled as of Monday morning. He'll be at Alabama on June 6 and at Oregon on June 20.
The Ducks and the Crimson Tide were both eliminated on Saturday from the NCAA Baseball tournament, giving both recruiting staffs more time to focus on roster retention and recruiting as they begin preparation for the 2026 college baseball season.
