Fourteen Tuscaloosa Area Baseball Players Named to ASWA All-State Teams

The 2022 high school baseball season came to a close recently which means it's time for end of the season awards. Fourteen athletes from high schools in the Tuscaloosa area picked up all-state honors from the Alabama Sports Writers Association. Tuscaloosa County, Hillcrest, Jasper, Brookwood, Central, Gordo, Bibb County, Northside, and Winfield were all represented in the awards.

Trenton Shirley (UTL) – Jr., Tuscaloosa County (second-team)

Class 6A

Luke Williams (P) – Sr., Hillcrest (second-team)

Aiden McGinnis (IF) – Sr., Jasper (second-team)

Sage Hayes (DH) – Sr., Brookwood (honorable mention)

Jaidyn Thomas (OF) – Sr., Central (honorable mention)

Class 4A

Ben Capps (P) – Sr., Gordo (first-team)

Lawson Neel (C) – Sr., Gordo (first-team)

Bo Burkes (IF) – Sr., Bibb County (first-team)

Tanner Bailey (DH) – Sr., Gordo (first-team)

Jaden Roberts (IF) – Jr., Northside (second-team)

Chris Billingsley (OF) – Jr., Bibb County (second-team)

Several of these senior student-athletes will see time at college baseball programs next year including, Luke Williams- Alabama, Aiden McGinnis- Bevill State, Ben Capps- UAH, Lawson Neel- Shelton State, Steven Cash- Louisiana, and Hunter Busha- Bevill State.
