The 2022 high school baseball season came to a close recently which means it's time for end of the season awards. Fourteen athletes from high schools in the Tuscaloosa area picked up all-state honors from the Alabama Sports Writers Association. Tuscaloosa County, Hillcrest, Jasper, Brookwood, Central, Gordo, Bibb County, Northside, and Winfield were all represented in the awards.

Class 7A

Trenton Shirley (UTL) – Jr., Tuscaloosa County (second-team)

 

Class 6A

Luke Williams (P) – Sr., Hillcrest (second-team)

Aiden McGinnis (IF) – Sr., Jasper (second-team)

Sage Hayes (DH) – Sr., Brookwood (honorable mention)

Jaidyn Thomas (OF) – Sr., Central (honorable mention)

Several of these senior student-athletes will see time at college baseball programs next year including, Luke Williams- Alabama, Aiden McGinnis- Bevill State, Ben Capps- UAH, Lawson Neel- Shelton State, Steven Cash- Louisiana, and Hunter Busha- Bevill State.

Northside Defeats Gordo - Week 4 2021

Northside took down the No. 1 team in Class 4A, beating the Gordo Greenwave 14-12.

Tuscaloosa County Wildcats vs. Paul W. Bryant Stampede

The Tuscaloosa County Wildcats defeated the Paul W. Bryant Stampede 59-34 in the opening game of the 2021 season for both schools. For the Wildcats it was the debut of new coach Adam Winegarden.
