On Wednesday, Florida State's head coach Mike Norvell informed the media that Conrad Hussey, a safety entering his junior year with the Seminoles, had been dismissed from the team. Norvell did not provide a reason for Hussey's dismissal.

"He's been dismissed from the team," Norvell said. "Obviously grateful for the time we've been able to be together. At the end of the day, it's a decision that was made."

Today, a report from CBS Sports says that Hussey is no longer on the team due to a physical altercation between him and a position coach, ultimately leading to his dismissal.

CBS Sports' Brandon Marcello said Wednesday on the College Football Insiders Podcast, "As one source told me, it wasn't a good look for Conrad Hussey, and it also wasn't a good look for the position coach."

Hussey started four games for the Seminoles throughout his two seasons and logged 40 total tackles (25 solo and 15 assisted), an interception, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery throughout his career at Florida State.

The Junior safety was a part of Norvell's 2023 class with Hussey being ranked as a four-star prospect, No.9 safety prospect, No.29 prospect out of Florida, and the No.112th overall prospect in the 2023 class according to 247 Sports.

With 17 days remaining until the Seminoles face the Crimson Tide at Doak S. Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Coach Norvell and his staff have lost depth in the defensive back position due to the dismissal of Hussey. Heading into his junior season, Hussey struggled last year and eventually fell out of the rotation. His absence may not significantly impact the Seminoles' starting lineup, but it does remove an experienced Division I defensive back from the mix. This situation could open up opportunities for Ty Simpson and Alabama's talented wide receiver corps, which includes players like Ryan Williams, Germie Bernard, and Miami transfer Isaiah Horton.
