Henrry Ruggs III has decided to forgo his senior year at Alabama and declare for the NFL draft. Ruggs III finished the 2019 season with 40 receptions, 746 yards and seven touchdowns. Known for his pure speed Ruggs III has been projected as a first round pick or early second in the upcoming NFL Draft. Ruggs III finishes his Alabama career with 98 career receptions, 1,716 yards and 24 touchdowns, his 24 touchdowns is good for third all-time among Crimson Tide receivers.

Ruggs III came to Tuscaloosa as a four-star prospect from Robert E. Lee High School out of Montgomery, Alabama. He was rated by 247sports as the 11th best wide receiver in the nation and the second best recruit out of the state of Alabama from the 2017 recruiting class. Bleacherreport’s Matt Miller projects Ruggs III to be drafted 13th overall to the Indianapolis Colts. Lance Cartelli of 247sports projects him to be picked at 19 by the Las Vegas Raiders and ESPN’s Todd McShay says he will be picked at 21 by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Alabama will be losing Ruggs III and Jerry Jeudy out of the receiver room, but will still have DeVonta Smith, Jaylen Waddle and John Metchie III in 2020. Tyrell Shavers, Xavier Williams, Slade Bolden and incoming freshman Thaiu Jones-Bell will also compete to replace the production of Ruggs III and Jeudy.
