The Holt Ironmen (1-2, 1-0) won a sloppy game at Woody Clements Field on Thursday night in Class 4A Region 3 action. The Ironmen defeated the Wilcox Central Jaguars (0-3, 0-1) 32-20 for the school's first win since October of 2018.

The Ironmen lost every game in 2020 and moved on from then head coach Curtis Graves. Dustin Hyche was brought into Holt for his first head coaching job in July after stints as an assistant with Sipsey Valley and Aliceville.

"It's been almost two full years since they had a win on the field, so I'm just extremely happy for the kids and they deserve this opportunity," said Hyche.

The Ironmen were led offensively by senior quarterback Jordan Driver, the electric athlete completed 8-of-12 passes for 135 yards and five touchdowns, he was also able to use his legs to escape the pocket and rush for 50 yards on the ground. Driver was a sophomore the last time that Holt was victorious in a game.

"I feel's really good to get all my teammates the ball, to share the ball and not to be selfish and share the love with my team," said Driver.

Driver wasn't alone as he was helped by senior wide receiver Melvin Rollins. The 6-foot-3 receiver hauled in four receptions for 65 yards and three touchdowns while also reeling in a 2-point conversion.

Holt got off to a quick start in the game forcing a Jaguars three-and-out and blocked punt by Ryan Ivory. Driver wasted no time getting the Ironmen on the board, finding Rollins in just one play for a 12-yard touchdown. Driver also found Deeldrick Mack and Tramarius Perkins for his other scores.

The Ironmen were able to hold onto its 20-point halftime lead and emerge victorious for its first region victory since defeating Lamar County on Oct. 18 2019.

Holt will return to the gridiron next week in another region matchup. The Ironmen will play West Blocton on the road on Sept. 10.
