Houston Nutt Surveys the SEC Landscape [Audio]
As teams across the Southeastern Conference enter week three of the college football season, nine of the conference’s 14 teams remain unblemished including top ranked Alabama.
While Alabama plays Colorado State this Saturday, six teams will play conference games this weekend with South Carolina playing their second league game.
Two weeks into the season, former Arkansas and Ole Miss head football coach Houston Nutt stepped Inside the Locker Room to survey the landscape around the SEC.
In addition to his assessment of Alabama’s football program under Nick Saban, the former SEC coach evaluated LSU’s success and what he is looking to see in their offense going forward.
“I’m anxious to see how LSU continues to progress with the new offensive coordinator Coach (Matt) Canada.” Nutt said. “I’m anxious to see if they’ll keep taking steps offensively because they’ve got playmakers. They’re tough. They’re physical, and they play defense.”
In addition to LSU, Georgia is also out to a 2-0 start including a win at Notre Dame. Nutt discussed what impressed him about their win in South Bend.
“I thought Georgia did an unbelievable thing by taking their team, going on the road, going to beat Notre Dame, looked good defensively. You got a freshman quarterback that stepped up. He didn’t flinch.” Nutt stated.
The former head coach at Arkansas and Ole Miss later explained his opinions of Alabama’s offensive philosophy and the issues concerning Auburn’s struggles on offense.
