Isaac Odugbesan won the SEC Shot Put title at the SEC Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Friday afternoon. Odugbesan took home the title with the second-best throw in school history with a throw of 20.22m.

Odugbesan still had three out of six more throws that would have clinched him the title. The Crimson Tide had three other players finish in the top 15 with Santiago Basso at No. 6, Nathan Cooper at No.13 and Josiah Harry at No. 15.

The senior from Lagos, Nigeria started the 2021 outdoor season with a third-place finish in the shot put at the Pepsi Florida Relays with a mark of 19.08m and finished silver in the Crimson Tide Invitational (19.12m). Throughout the 2021 indoor season, Odugbesan won gold at the South Carolina Invitational and the SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships. Odugbesan finished in 11th place at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Shot Put (19.17m).

During the 2020 indoor season, Odugbesan won the put shot at the Samford Invitational (19.53m), the New Mexico Collegiate Challenge (18.95m) and the Indiana University Relays (19.26m). He finished in fourth at the 2020 SEC Indoor Track and Field Championship with a score of 19.54m and recorded a 17.79m in the weight throw.

Odugbesan transferred to Alabama after his sophomore season at Middle Tennessee State. He earned Conference USA's Male Freshman of the year, won Conference USA's shot put title for the outdoor season twice and the indoor season once and became a record holder for the Blue Raiders.
