Former Alabama running back Jahmyr Gibbs has been drafted by the Detroit Lions as the No. 12 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Gibbs is coming off an excellent junior campaign after transferring from Georgia Tech in the 2022 offseason.

The Georgia native finished last season with the Crimson Tide with 926 rushing yards on 151 attempts with seven touchdowns and also averaged 6.1 yards per carry.

The former All-American was also a vital part in the Tide's passing game. Gibbs finished third on the team in receiving yards with 444, led the team in receptions with 44, and also added three touchdowns.

Gibbs is considered a late bloomer after all he was only a three star recruit coming out of high school and signed with Georgia Tech as a freshman.

The second team All-SEC selection is viewed as the second running back in this year's draft behind Texas running back Bijan Robinson.

Gibbs is a mismatch in the passing game and runs with instant acceleration and his underrated speed can be a nightmare for defensive coordinators around the league.

The former Alabama running back is getting comparisons from Alvin Kamara and Christian McCaffrey and will make an instant impact with the Lions.
