John Parker Wilson Opens Up on Leaving Alabama Broadcast Booth
Former Alabama quarterback John Parker Wilson has released a statement about his departure form the Crimson Tide Sports Network's broadcast team.
"It has been a great honor to serve as the color analyst for the Alabama football team over the last five years," said Wilson. "I never imagined during my playing days that I would eventually be calling games, but it has been an amazing experience having a front row seat to so many wins from Coach Saban and his players."
Alabama Athletics announced on Wednesday that Tyler Watts was replacing Wilson as the color analyst for Alabama football radio broadcasts.
"Like many of our fans today, I grew up watching Alabama football games with the radio broadcast replacing the television audio every Saturday," said Wilson. "Now with a family of my own, that includes two little boys and my wife, I am excited to spend my Saturdays with them making memories together at Bryant-Denny Stadium."
It was also announced that Eli Gold will do play-by-play for all home games, while Chris Stewart will for all the away games.
"I am thrilled to pass the microphone to a fellow Alabama quarterback who also wore number 14," said Wilson. "Tyler Watts is going to do an amazing job with the best staff in the business and I can't wait to tune in and listen."
Former Alabama linebacker and Tide 100.9's Christian Miller will return as the sideline reporter.
"Thank you to Greg Byrne and the entire athletic department staff for their help and guidance through this process," said Wilson. "I am so proud to be a part of The University of Alabama and will continue to serve as A-Club President. Looking forward to an exciting 2023 season. Roll Tide!"
