Johnny Musso on Derrick Henry: “He’s a Good Leader”
Legendary Alabama running back Johnny Musso joined Ryan Fowler inside "The Game" on Friday to break down some Crimson Tide football and talk about the good old days playing under Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant, but he also gave high praise for current Tide running back Derrick Henry.
If you were to ask any Alabama football fan who the greatest running back in the University's prestigious history is, Johnny Musso would be at the top of most people's list. When asked his thoughts on Alabama's current star running back, Derrick Henry, Musso had nothing but good things to say about the Heisman Trophy candidate.
"He's a good leader, a good team player, and your teammates respect that. Believe me, he wants to win the Heisman Trophy, but it's not his number one focus."
Henry has broken many rushing records this season for the Tide, and many of those records were previously held by Musso himself. The former running back was asked about Henry breaking his record of carries in a single game against the Auburn Tigers.
"Alabama doesn't pad statistics and they didn't give him the ball 46 times because they wanted him to improve his prospects of winning the Heisman. They did it because they were trying to win the game... Good for him, that he did it the way he did it, to really put the game away."
