Kalen DeBoer gives his thoughts on the Iron Bowl
Alabama Football is in position to reach the SEC championship game this year. With the Iron Bowl on the horizon, a familiar Crimosn Tide figure has a few comments about the marquee matchup against Auburn.
Head coach Kalen DeBoer will experience his first ever Iron Bowl and as the head coach of the Crimson Tide.
Yesterday during DeBoer's press conference, a reporter asked a question about Auburn and the Iron Bowl this season. Here is what DeBoer had to say about the team down in the plains.
"“The focus isn’t on that, as you know. But that’s going to be a game the whole state, us, Auburn, pour everything into. Just such great history over the many years. It’s a big game. A big game for a lot of reasons. The focus for us will be hopefully we’re playing for something," said DeBoer.
Kalen DeBoer enters a historic rivarly between Alabama and Auburn. Alabama currently has a record of 50 wins, 37 losses, and one tie against Auburn. The Crimson Tide are on a four-game winning streak, with eight of the last 10 matchups having ended positively for Alabama.
The last matchup between the two rivals ended up in Alabama's favor. Alabama beat Auburn (27-24) on a last-second Jalen Milroe touchdown to Isaiah Bond in the back of the endzone to seal the game. Milroe led Alabama's offense with 366 total yards, which included 259 on 16-of-24 passing and 107 yards rushing for 18 attempts.
Kalen DeBoer commented about the importance of the Iron Bowl and what it means right now for the Crimson Tide.
“That’s really what I know I’ve always tried to focus rivalry games on. Where we’re at in the season. What it means for our team. But you certainly understand atmosphere and environment for the fans and everyone surrounding the game and how important it is to them with a rival game," said DeBoer.
Don’t miss Alabama Football this weekend as they travel to Norman, Oklahoma, for an SEC showdown against the Oklahoma Sooners at 6:00 p.m. CT on Tide 100.9 FM and 1230 AM WTBC.
