After not participating in the 2020 football season, Keilan Robinson is back with the Alabama football team this spring.

The four-star prospect was rated him as the No. 2 player in Washington D.C. and the No. 15 running back nationally according to 247Sports in the 2019 recruiting cycle. He was also selected to play in the Under Armour All-America Game.

In 2019, Robinson carried the ball 39 times for 259 yards and scored two touchdowns. His breakout game came against Western Carolina when he rushed for 92 yards on only eight carries. Robinson also led the Crimson Tide in rushing against New Mexico and showcased his speed with a 74-yard touchdown run.

Robinson is part of a crowded Alabama backfield that features Brian Robinson Jr, Jase McClellan, Roydell Williams, Kyle Edwards and Trey Sanders. Five-star Camar Wheaton will join the running back room this summer.

The Washington D.C. native spent the 2020 season training, getting faster and adding muscle while he was at home.

Coach Nick Saban raved about the Robinson during Wednesday's press conference.

"He’s doing great, he’s got great speed. He’s gotten bigger and stronger. He’s really playing fast", said Saban. He’s playing really good on special teams. He’s a potential kickoff returner for us. He was before when he was a freshman. So that’s certainly a role. And he’s made great progress as a running back. He’s got pretty good carryover knowledge and experience wise from the year before. I’m really pleased with what he’s been doing".

Robinson Jr. is the favorite to come out of spring and fall practice as the starter, but Robinson could see an increased role in 2021 as RB2 and on special teams.
