The Alabama Sports Writers Association named Alabama signee Kristian Story Mr. Football 2019 on Wednesday. Story led Lanett to the Class 1A state championship in December. Story was also named Class 1A Back of the Year. Story was also honored by AL.com as a member of the High School Team of the Decade and named Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year.

Story completed 171 passes for 2,847 yards and 35 touchdowns, he ran for 1,211 yards and another 17 touchdowns, defensively he accrued 71 tackles and five interceptions in 2019. Story is the first Alabama signee to win the Mr. Football award since T.J. Yeldon won it in 2011. Story finished his high school career with AHSAA records 13,219 yards and 175 touchdowns.

According to 247sports, Story is a four-star recruit, the sixth ranked athlete and the ninth ranked recruit in the state of Alabama. He will enroll at Alabama in May and could contribute for the Tide in several positions including quarterback and safety.
