Sad news for the Central high school Falcon family. Basketball coach Roosevelt Sanders has passed away at age 84.

Central High School posted the announcement on their Facebook page Saturday evening, "The stellar wins and accomplishments that "Coach Ro" had on the basketball court compare nothing to the lives he helped win and the impact he made on whoever he came in contact with!"

A coach who is able to not only impact the scoreboards but lives in the community is truly a gem. Central's post went on to say, " For your leadership, your passion for the game, and the many Falcons you positively impacted on your journey, we say thank you and you have most certainly earned your crown!"

Central high school commemorated "Coach Ro" by naming their gym the Coach Roosevelt "Ro" Sanders Gymnasium back in 2020. Sanders spent 22 years at Central where his teams won state championships in 1990 and 1991 and reached the final four a total of four times.

He was selected state coach of the year four times, coached in the all-star game, and served as an administrative coach for the state all-star team.

There is no doubt that the Falcon community, family, and friends will miss coach Roosevelt Sanders.
