Mini Bus to Take Pit Stop In Tuscaloosa For Junior Day
It's recruiting season for the Alabama Crimson Tide football program and it's set to be a big weekend in Tuscaloosa. The Tide is set to host some of the top underclassmen in the country for Junior Day and one of the prospects has a very familiar name to football fans everywhere.
Jerome Bettis Jr. announced on Twitter that he would be coming to Tuscaloosa over the weekend for the program's Junior Day celebrations. Bettis Jr. is a sophomore wide receiver out of Atlanta and is the son of NFL Hall of Famer Jerome Bettis.
The 6-foot-2 sophomore is listed at 175 pounds, so nowhere near as bulky as his father was in his heyday, but as only a sophomore there's plenty of time to fill out. Bettis Jr.'s high school, the Woodward Academy War Eagles, finished its 2022 campaign 11-2 and was eliminated in the third round of the Georgia 6A playoffs.
According to 247Sports the rising junior has four scholarship offers from Arkansas, UMass, UConn and Boston College. Attending Junior Day is a great way to earn a summer camp invitation which can lead to a scholarship offer.
Bettis Sr. is a Notre Dame graduate and still holds the Irish record for most rushing touchdowns in a season with 20. He went on to a Hall of Fame career with the Los Angeles Rams and Pittsburgh Steelers after being selected with the No. 10 overall pick in the 1993 NFL Draft.
The Bus made six Pro Bowls and helped the Steelers win Super Bowl XL in his final game as a professional.
