Nick Saban Gives QB Update After Second Scrimmage
The Alabama quarterback battle has been one of college football's hottest topics since the departure of Bryce Young to the NFL back in April. Many fans were at the assumption that the QB1 position would go to either Ty Simpson or Jalen Milroe, who started last season for a game and a half while Young was injured. Since then however, the quarterback competition has only grown more intense, with the addition of freshman Dylan Lonergan and Notre Dame transfer, Tyler Buchner.
For weeks now, the Crimson Tide's head coach Nick Saban has been giving the public small updates about how the position battle has been going in practice. Saban has yet to announce who the starter will be, but in just about every update, he has made it very clear that there is no player that currently stands out from the rest.
After the Tide's second scrimmage on Saturday, Saban once again spoke on the quarterback situation and described everybody's performance.
“They all got to play. They all took snaps. They all completed some passes. They all made some throws that weren’t as good as they should have been. And they all got sacked,” said Saban,
Saban once again, has not implied that anybody has taken the position, and is continuing to paint all of the quarterbacks in the same light. For some fans, this can be concerning for the program, while for others, this will simply come down to trusting the process and having faith that Saban will put the right man in charge before week 1.
