The great-grandson of legendary coach Bear Bryant has found his third college football home after flaming out in both Tuscaloosa and Arizona. Paul Tyson, a former star at Hewitt-Trussville High School, has announced that he will be transferring to Clemson to play with Dabo Swinney and the Tigers.

Tyson, a former 3-star recruit in the class of 2019, was buried on the depth chart in Tuscaloosa behind Tua Tagovailoa, Mac Jones, Taulia Tagovailoa. After the 2021 season, Tyson opted to enter the transfer portal and head to Arizona State for a better chance at getting playing time.

That didn't work out as Emory Jones transferred in from Florida and beat Tyson out for the starting job. Additionally, Herman Edwards, the coach that recruited him there, was fired early in the season.

Tyson entered the transfer portal in late November. Now, the world knows where he'll don a uniform next.

Tyson is likely a depth piece for the Tigers. It is very unlikely he can supplant Cade Klubnik as the starter. However, Clemson lost both DJ Uiagalelei and Billy Wiles to the portal. He brings a good veteran presence to back up Klubnik, who showed a lot of promise in relief of Uiagalelei this year.

Through three years of college so far, Tyson has amassed 10 completions for 150 yards.
