Last week I went 4-0 and am now 12-2 for the year. Here are this week's picks, starting with a Thursday night game:

Hale County at Gordo (Thu.)

We hear at Townsquare Media affectionately call Gordo's home field "Little Lambeau" because for many years the Green Wave's uniforms have closely resembled those of the NFL's Green Bay Packers. When Hale County arrives in Pickens County, the Wildcats may feel like they're facing an NFL team. Gordo has beaten HCHS 12 straight times and for the visitors it will be an unlucky 13. Gordo takes it 42-14.

Brookwood at Tuscaloosa County

Both teams have struggled of late, but Brookwood has struggled more as the Panthers come to Northport with a 1-8 record. County High is 4-5 and will not make the postseason but can still finish with a .500 record. The Cats will send their seniors out with a home win in Wildcat Stadium, 38-13. Jalen Prince will be on hand to cover the game for Tide 100.9.

Northside at Sipsey Valley

Both teams got good wins last week and the homestanding Bears got a playoff clincher at Hale County. The Rams beat Hamilton in Samantha, but Northside will face a much bigger challenge in the right arm of LJ Cormier and his favorite receiver Wyatt Bailey. J.R. Moore will have the story and pics for Tide and he will watch Sipsey take down the Rams, 28-20.

Paul Bryant at Demopolis

In yet another reminder that I am OLD I did a year of play-by-play in 1987 for Fayette County and the Tigers featured an eighth grade quarterback named Lance Tucker playing for his dad Waldon. Lance is now coaching at Demopolis and has the Tigers bound for the playoffs with a record of 7-2. Bryant comes in a 3-6 but the Stampede will be overmanned by the homestanding Tigers, 35-14.
