After a homecoming Saturday against Arkansas, the Crimson Tide showed once again that they can play well, but still mess up. How should fans feel about the team moving forward?

Doug Bell discussed the topic Monday morning on "Inside the Locker Room" with Wimp and Barry Sanderson.

"This is the time of year when the good teams are starting to thrive and exert themselves," said Bell, shouting out Florida State and LSU. "With that being said, I think Alabama is on the upward curve, but certainly not as much as those other schools."

"I think Alabama fans are just gonna ride the roller coaster with a young quarterback," Bell predicted. "One week you look fantastic, depending on what defense [Milroe] sees...the next week when they throw something he hasn't seen, you're gonna struggle."

But Bell doesn't think Alabama should give up just because the quarterback isn't as strong as he could be. "Alabama controls their destiny," emphasized Bell. "They're just a couple wins away from securing a trip to Atlanta to play Georgia for the SEC championship."

"That's the carrot at the end of the season like it usually is," said Bell. "And for these young guys, it's right there for them."

Bell repeated that the offense will have to keep improving, but he was particularly impressed with the Alabama defense. "They're talented, they're fast, they're exciting...I think ultimately that is gonna be the thing that carries Alabama to where they wanna go."
