Dawgs linebacker talks Kalen DeBoer offense ahead of Bama-Georgia

When the Alabama Crimson Tide host the Georgia Bulldogs on October 10th, it will be the fifth matchup in the last four years between the two SEC powerhouses. It will also be the fourth matchup between head coaches Kalen DeBoer and Kirby Smart.

While Smart has built his version of a Georgia program through physical defense with a complementary run game, DeBoer has since taken a different approach as he heads into his third season as the head man of the Crimson Tide. Before arriving at Alabama, Kalen DeBoer built his coaching credibility off of high-powered, innovative offense- highlighted by a strong passing game.

This unique matchup has created several instant classics over the last couple of seasons. The first matchup between the two resulted in arguably the best regular season game of 2024, when Alabama jumped out to a 28-0 lead and managed to escape with a 41-34 victory in Bryant-Denny Stadium. The following season, the two teams met again in Athens for the first time since 2015. Alabama yet again got out with the win following a hat trick of total touchdowns from quarterback Ty Simpson.

2026 will mark the third consecutive season these teams meet before either the SEC Championship or the College Football Playoff, as well as the fifth game against Alabama for Bulldogs linebacker Raylen Wilson. Wilson was asked about what it was like going up against the previously mentioned Crimson Tide offense.

"I mean, it's tough for once they do a lot of stuff. Alabama does a lot of stuff, like the screens and stuff like that, and they really catch you off guard. Different plays, and it's really just, you try to get it in practice with the scout team. I feel like you do a great job with that, like our scout team, our scout team and coaches, just getting a good look for the week."

Three of the last four matchups between these two SEC powerhouses have resulted in one-score games; expect nothing different when these two teams square off in week six.
