TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- Alabama Softball's Rhoads Stadium will serve as one of the eight host sites for the Athletes Unlimited Softball League this season. The AUSL has announced that they will be in Tuscaloosa for a two-game series between the Talons and Volts on July 22-23. Additionally, Rhoads Stadium will host the AUSL Championship, a best-of-three series, from July 26-28.

Alabama's softball head coach, Patrick Murphy, who is in his 27th season with the Tide, expressed his excitement about hosting the AUSL this upcoming summer. He told Alabama Athletics, "We are honored and excited to host the AUSL this summer at the Rhoads House." Murphy emphasized, "The best of the best in softball will be here, and we hope all of our fans will join us."

 

Alabama fans are accustomed to witnessing highly talented softball teams, as the Tide has won over 1,200 games since Murphy arrived in Tuscaloosa in 1999. The Crimson Tide softball team secured a championship in 2012, has made the NCAA tournament every season Murphy has been head coach, and has appeared in 15 World Series, winning 12 SEC championships, with the most recent win occurring in 2021.

 

 

The AUSL, which was founded on March 3, 2020, consists of four teams: the Talons, Volts, Bandits, and Blaze, who will play 24 games this season from June 7th to July 23rd, with ESPN planning to air 33 games exclusively on their platform and 30 games on Linear TV, according to the AUSL. The AUSL will play at eight different locations, with the championship held at Rhoads Stadium from July 26 to 28.

  • Wilkins Stadium at Wichita State Univ. (Wichita, Kan.)
  • Dell Diamond in Round Rock (Round Rock, Texas)
  • Connie Claussen Field at Univ. of Nebraska-Omaha (Omaha, Neb.)
  • McMurry Park at Lake Charles (Sulphur, La.)
  • Dumke Family Softball Stadium at the Univ. of Utah (Salt Lake City)
  • Jim Frost Stadium at Warner Park (Chattanooga, Tenn.)
  • Rhoads Stadium at the Univ. of Alabama (Tuscaloosa, Ala.)
