According to Tim Watts of BamaOnline and Matt Zenitz of AL.com  the Crimson Tide has secured the commitment of Robert Woodyard. Woodyard is an inside linebacker out of Williamson High School in Mobile, Alabama. 247Sports ranks Woodyard as a four-star prospect, the second rated inside linebacker in the nation, the fifth overall recruit in the state of Alabama and the 58th overall recruit in the 2022 recruiting class. He becomes the second player committed to the Tide in the 2022 recruiting cycle.

Woodyard stands at 6-foot-1, 210 pounds, he already has 13 scholarship offers to schools like Auburn, Georgia, LSU and Tennessee. Sal Sunseri is his primary recruiter for Alabama along with defensive coordinator Pete Golding.

Woodyard was able to visit Tuscaloosa during the February Junior Day just prior to the pandemic induced recruiting dead period. He was offered a scholarship on that visit and decided to commit to the Tide today.

Woodyard is a multi-sport athlete as he helped Williamson win the Class 4A state championship in February.

He joins Jeremiah Alexander as the second commit in the 2022 cycle. Alexander is out of Thompson High School and the top rated recruit in the state of Alabama and the second rated defensive end nationally.

Woodyard, a rising junior, will look forward to a full football season in 2020 having only played in four games last year due to recovering from a knee injury in 2018.

Woodyard and Alexander make a strong start to the 2022 recruiting class and keep the Tide rolling in the state of Alabma.
