Although the early signing period is just under six months away, Alabama football is looking to follow-up their top recruiting class in 2019 with another stellar class for the 2020 class.

To begin the month of July, TiderInsider.com's Rodney Orr provided his assessment of where Alabama stands in the 2020 recruiting season.

Entering the halfway point of the 2019 calendar year, Alabama comes in at No. 2 in the recruiting rankings according to 247Sports and No. 3 in the Rivals recruiting rankings. Even with the obstacles. While the Crimson Tide has gained steam on the recruiting trail, Orr examined some of the reasons that observers had been overlooking the Tide on the recruiting trail.

"A lot of people had kind of counted Alabama out. I think maybe it was the constant turnover in the coaching staff. You (Gary Harris) had mention the loss to Clemson. I think people had kind of thought, 'Well, Nick Saban is losing his touch. The young sharks are here.' You've got Kirby Smart. You've got Jeremy Pruitt. You've got Jimbo Fisher." Orr said.

Even with the youthful, energetic recruiters across the Southeastern Conference, the TiderInsider.com founder reminds us that a veteran presence is still the biggest shark in the conference.

"All of these young sharks out there that are kind of taking over the water so to speak, and guess what? He (Nick Saban) is still the biggest shark in the sea right now." Orr said.

Find out what Rodney Orr had to say about the prospects that Alabama is targeting along with the target goal for total commitments in the class.
