Rookie Victor Kiprop Impresses the Field at Stanford Invitational
One of Alabama's sought out distance runners Victor Kiprop ran a 28:15.72 to post the top collegiate time in the Stanford Invitational 10,000 meters.
With that mark, Kiprop is now ranked second all-time at Alabama, making him the second fastest man in Crimson Tide history and third in the nation this season.
The men's and women's track team split up this weekend to represent the Crimson Tide in different states. The distance pair was sent to compete at the Stanford Invitational Friday night, while the rest of the team will compete at the Florida Relays.
This weekend will be the Tide's first outdoor meet of the 2022 season, as they look to run fast times and improve their individual events.
Looking back at the Crimson Tide's outstanding season last year post COVID, they were able to accomplish a lot and run some of the best times we have ever seen for the program.
Some highlights of the 2021 outdoor season were both the men's and women's teams posting top-15 finishes at the NCAA Championships, with the women taking fourth and the men taking 13th as their final finishes.
Also on the women's side, the team took a fourth and fifth place finish, making history for the Track and Field program and taking the third-highest outdoor finish ever for UA.
Up next on April 8 and 9, the Crimson Tide will travel to the 2022 Southeastern Conference Outdoor Championships at the Joe Walker Invitational in Oxford, MS.
