Roydell Williams Heaps High Praise on Bama O-Line
Alabama senior back Roydell Williams seemed comfortable ahead of the 2023 season at an availability Monday following another spring practice.
He heaped high praise on his blockers and gave insight on what it's like watching an elite quarterback battle from his point of view in the backfield.
“Oh man, those guys are dogs, every last one," Williams said of Alabama's offensive line on Monday.
"From the top to the bottom, oldest to the youngest, they’re doing great out there.”
Alabama's offensive line has received plenty of criticism across the last two seasons, but was a key factor in leading the conference in rushing yards per attempt in 2022.
Current QB Battle
While Williams didn't lean one way or the other in terms of preference, he made it clear the QB battle going on in camp takes getting used to.
“It's not really that much of a change, but you just have to get comfortable with who's back there, what’s going on, what’s the play call," Williams said.
"But I mean, they're both doing great. All of the quarterbacks are doing great, and they know how to handle each situation well.”
The Hueytown native's junior season in 2022 saw him carry the ball 56 times with 287 yards of total offense and four rushing touchdowns.
At the moment, he's expected to split time in the 2023 season with fellow senior rusher Jase McClellan.
