Chelangat blew through the finish line at a time of 15:43.64. Although, at a point in her race it seemed like Chelangat was effortlessly running against her competition taking a lead in the race. Last year at the SEC Championships, Chelangat achieved a bronze in the 5,000-meter run last year running a (15:48.38). Chelangat came into this SEC Championships determined to run faster and place higher in which she did. Chelangat really put on a show and used her talents and setting her mind to something and achieving it.

Chelangat set up good mojo for the rest of the Alabama athletes competing that day. SEC will be the final race for Chelangat and a wrap up to her indoor season. Alabama is looking forward to outdoor season were it only gets a whole lot faster for these athletes especially for Chelangat.
