After anintense week of training following their tough loss to Auburn, the Alabama gymnastics squad bounced back with a win in their home Tri-Meet against Western Michigan and UNC, triumphing with an overall score of 197.875.

The Tide came out with fire from start to finish.

Luisa Blanco, a junior on the team, came out to be the All-Around, Bars, and Beam winner in the meet. Blanco also topped her season-best score on the bars with an all high score of 9.95, all while coming off of a shoulder surgery

The Bama girls overall scored a 9.80 or higher in every event.

"They did exactly what we wanted to do, and to hit four events as a team," Coach Dana Duckworth said after the meet.

Coach Duckworth said she saw a spark fly as soon as Shallon Olsen hit her vault and scored a 9.900 to start off the meet. That spark lit a fire in the hole team, Duckworth said.

This win marked Bama's highest overall score since the SEC Championship last season.

Western Michigan scored a 194.875 and UNC finished with a 195.325.

In every overall for each event, the Crimson Tide scored a 49.400 or better.

The team's next meet is next Friday, February 11, at 7:30 p.m., when they face off against Georgia in their annual Pink Out meet.
