Shemar James, 4-star outside linebacker out of Faith Academy in Mobile, Alabama named his top two schools this passed weekend: the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Florida Gators.

James, the eighth-ranked prospect in Alabama according to 247Sports, is a two-way player, taking snaps at running back, wide receiver and multiple spots on the defense. James recently made the trip to Tuscaloosa for an official visit back in April, alongside 2022 commit Robert Woodyard, for the A-Day game and has spoken very highly of the Crimson Tide following the visit, praising the program's ability to put talent in the NFL.

"I mean, Alabama, it’s like the team right before you get to the NFL," James said in a recent interview with Hank South of 247Sports. "It’s awesome. If you go there it’s almost a guaranteed spot in the NFL.”

"A commitment should be coming before my senior year depending on how things work out," James also said, letting fans in on the status of his commitment.

Despite being heavily recruited by several other SEC programs like Auburn, Georgia and LSU as well as many non-SEC programs such as Florida State, Michigan and Oregon, James has decided to stay relatively close to home and play for one of the top dogs in the conference.

The Crimson Tide currently feature just one other outside linebacker commitment for the 2022 class, while the Gators have yet to receive any commitments at the position. 247Sports lists Alabama as the heavy favorite to land the Mobile native, claiming a 100% Crystal Ball prediction, but at this point a decision from James has yet to be made.

Adding James would continue to solidify an great start to the 2022 recruiting cycle for the Crimson Tide.
