Alabama women's basketball coach Kristy Curry had a successful 2020 season, winning the most conference games in a season in her tenure. The Lady Crimson Tide was on the cusp of making the NCAA Women's Tournament for the first time in Curry's time at The Capstone when the NCAA cancelled the postseason due to the COVID-19 coronavirus. Curry kept her success rolling in the offseason, securing the transfer of MTSU's Taylor Sutton.

Sutton averaged 11.6 points and 1.5 assists per game in two seasons with the Blue Raiders. The 5-foot-4 guard from Atlanta, Georgia was the 2019 C-USA Freshman of the year at MTSU, she started 63 of her 64 games for Rick Insell. Sutton will be eligible to play for the Crimson Tide in 2021 after sitting out a season due to transfer rules.
