Tagovailoa Breaks Touchdown Record as No. 1 Alabama Downs The Citadel, 50-17
The No. 1 Alabama football team scored four times in the third quarter to cruise to a 50-17 win over The Citadel at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday after the game was tied 10-10 at halftime. The Crimson Tide (11-0) outscored the Bulldogs (4-6) 40-7 in the second half.
Tagovailoa led the Alabama offense going 18-of-22 for 340 yards through the air and three touchdowns. Tagovailoa also added 37 rushing yards, including a one-yard touchdown plunge. Sophomore wide out Henry Ruggs III caught six passes for a team-high 116 yards while freshman receiver Jaylen Waddle ended the day with six catches for 90 yards and two scores.
Junior linebacker Anfernee Jennings finished with 11 tackles to lead the Tide defenders and returned a fumble 18 yards for a touchdown as part of the third quarter scoring barrage.
With the victory, Alabama has now won at least 11 games 22 times in school history and nine times under Nick Saban. The Tide has also won 11 games or more the last eight years in a row, the longest streak in Southeastern Conference history.
The Crimson Tide returns to action next Saturday against Auburn for its final regular season home game at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The game is set for a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff on CBS.
