The Alabama Crimson Tide traveled into Rebel territory to play Ole Miss in a great SEC affair.

Here's what was learned after a great SEC football game.

1. Alabama Can Still Play in a New Year's Six Bowl

The Alabama Crimson Tide will most likely not be making the College Football Playoff in 2022. It's disappointing given the talent on the team. However, it is likely the Tide gets to play in either the Cotton Bowl in Arlington, Texas, or a return to Miami, Fla., for another Orange Bowl appearance. The future is unknown for the likes of Will Anderson Jr. and Bryce Young given their likely NFL declarations. Time will tell as the rest of the season plays out.

2. The Defense Can Play Excellent

All season, the Crimson Tide defense has gotten a lot of heat for the failures of the team, but in Oxford on Saturday, the group played exceptional. In the second half, the team only gave up seven points due to a facemask penalty from Dallas Turner putting the Rebels in favorable territory. There was a noticeable shift in the defense's attitude which translate to good on the other side of the ball. On the final drive, Ole Miss had gotten as close to the 13-yard line, but after a sack from Mississippi native, Byron Young on third down, Ole Miss is forced to go for it on fourth down when defensive back Brian Branch plays great coverage on the inside route getting his hand up at the last minute. The moment had coach Saban smiling at the end of the game.

3. The Tide is Competitors

The Ole Miss Rebels came in and punched Alabama in the mouth early on, but the team responded, and guys played through adversity. With SEC Championship aspirations gone, the team showed grit and heart. Coach Saban preaches pride and determination and it's great to see the guys haven't quit.
