It’s a morning of celebration in the city of Tuscaloosa, as SEC All-Freshman Labaron Philon will return to Alabama for his sophomore season, it was announced by the Crimson Tide's NIL collective Yea-Alabama on Wednesday night.

Philon had a tremendous outing his freshman year, averaging 10.9 points, shooting 45.2% from the floor, along with 3.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game in over 37 games played throughout the season. Along with these stats, He led UA with 50 steals on the program's run to the Elite Eight.

Philon commented on his decision to return to Alabama, stating, “I am thankful for all the support from my family, friends, and Alabama throughout this process,” Philon said. “I learned a lot throughout the NBA Draft process and received a lot of great feedback. After careful consideration, I am happy to announce that I will be returning to Alabama for my sophomore season! Roll Tide!”

With Philon back on the roster, the Crimson Tide will have six guards, including the returning guards Aden Holloway, Latrell Wrightsell Jr, and Houston Mallette, along with incoming freshman Davion Hannah, and brand new Miami transfer Jalil Bethea to round out Alabama’s backcourt for the 2025-26 season.

This is important not just for Alabama Basketball, but the entire city of Tuscaloosa. Crimson Tide basketball has been a hot commodity lately, and the return of the all-SEC freshman will continue the excitement into the next season. In terms of on the court, Philon will bring a whole year of experience back to the program, alongside his undeniably outstanding talent. The crimson tide has been in the national championship conversation for several years, and Philon’s return will add to expectations for the 2025-26 team to bring home the trophy.
